Ringplus free plan

RingPlus is an MVNO founded by Karl Seelig.  It was not your everyday standard MVNO.  Through RingPlus, Karl brought some new, experimental and innovative technology to the wireless world. The technology served as a vehicle to try and help the company achieve its goal of offering  ringplus free plan and cheap cell phone service to all. It was not uncommon to come across ringplus free plan with over 5GB of 4G LTE data such as it former offering. The prospect of free and cheap phone plans allowed the company to grow rapidly as it amassed over 120,000 subscribers shortly after launch.

What is an MVNO

. It is a wireless communication services provider.  The way it works is that an MVNO goes into an agreement with a mobile network operator to acquire large access to their network services at wholesale rates, then sets retail prices independently. An MVNO is allowed to use its customer service, billing support systems, marketing, and sales personnel.

Subscribers Growth In Ringplus Free Plans

Subscribers’ growth in 2015 was a robust 1,820% and currently represents a sizeable percentage of overall Sprint prepaid additions in 2015 and early 2016.

Sprint saw their wholesale and its affiliates grow by 514,000 (including all Sprint MVNOs) of which RingPlus contributed 7.3%. Besides, RingPlus led all Sprint MVNOs in acquiring new subscribers bringing their iPhone & Nexus devices to the Sprint network, with most such devices coming from T-Mobile followed by Verizon.

Ringplus Free Plan

RingPlus has continued to increase free allowances and open new plans. Working with the community, they added new plans with additional features and customized plan options into their free plans offering options to add for free such as MMS for free in May 2016.

Ringplus Free Plan Discontinued

RingPlus old free legacy plan was discontinued on January 1st, 2017. With the change, RingPlus fortunately, didn’t hang its customers completely out to dry like many other MVNO’s do under similar circumstances. Once your plan expires, RingPlus automatically moves the customers to a holding plan for 7 days to give them a chance to find a new plan or to port out.  The holding plan will contain 200 minutes, 200 texts, 200 MMS picture messages and 200 MB of 4G LTE data.  If subscribers do not switch to a new plan during the 7-day holding period their account will automatically be suspended.  Once suspended, subscribers’ phone numbers will still be retained for an additional 30 days before the number is lost for good.

Reason For The Discontinued Plan

The changes have left some RingPlus subscribers upset, particularly the ones who not long ago signed up for one of the affected plans.  Some even try to claim that this is the beginning of the end for RingPlus.  The truth of the matter is that RingPlus has changed the technology behind their plans and it is not economical for them to maintain the legacy plans.  RingPlus continues to provide good value and unique plans for its subscribers.

Conclusion

Another MVNO is using the Ringplus free plan to deliver to its customers the best phone service out there. Although ringplus no longer provide some of these services there is some alternative to subscribe to.
